He immigrated to the United States in about 1770 and settled in Culpepper County, Virginia where he married Margaret Cromwell in about 1774. Margaret was born in Maryland. They had five children. William served in the American Revolution. He died 9 Feburary 1805 in Russell County, Virginia. Margared Cromwell Addington died between 1831 and 1840 presumably in Scott County, Virginia. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, California, Arizona, Ohio, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Georgia, Iowa, West Virginia, New Mexico, Idaho, Oregon, Maryland, and elsewhere.
